Well, yesterday I took a friend and my sons out to a county park and we didn't walk very far into the woods before we started seeing these golden ruffled vase shaped, smooth stalked, delectably elusive treats.
It's always good to spend a lot more time picking and processing choice mushrooms, than effort looking for them. The forest is absolutely LITTERED with them, so I'm going to spend today, picking up all the litter I can find???
The season is short, so make the time to go. You will not regret it?
Almost all the ones I'm finding are on the east/southeast facing slopes near water with semi sunny canopies of deciduous hardwood, amidst the thick undergrowth. Wear long, rugged pants to gingerly plow through the thorns and watch out for the poison ivy. Happy hunting?
