The Hoosier Mushroom Society was conceived in the summer of 2009. We held our first event that fall at Yellowwood State Forest and over 40 people attended.

In 2015, we began offering morel and wild mushroom certifications in conjunction with Purdue Extension and the Indiana State Health Department.
