Was this wild in Indiana, or was this cultivated? I would be interested in a sample if it is native.

Thanks for all the great info!

Need to know if the taste is bitter

May be Pleurotus/Lentinus levis/laevis

These are too immature to get a reliable ID. Check the same spot again and there may be a more mature specimen.

Be sure to check out the new progression map. Morels are already being found in Indiana.

We are hoping to extend the current registrations for 5 years total, but we are still awaiting a final word.

If you took the Wild Mushroom Course in 2017, the new forms are finally publicly available from ISDH. If you were one of the participants, you should have received an email with additional information. Contact us if you have not received it.
Also FYI, as we are getting a lot of questions, 2018 course dates have not been announced. We will be announcing them in a few weeks. The morel courses will be in March and wild mushrooms in June.
-
We will likely be responding in a faster timeframe as the season picks up. Sorry for the slow responses. Please note that this organization has no paid staff, only volunteers.

We will work to get the membership for 2018 updated in the store this week.
-
The morel courses will be taught this spring and the wild mushroom courses will likely be in July.
We just learned last week that the ISDH has finally approved the form for wild mushroom certifications, but they have not finalized the corresponding policy publicly. The form is available here: http://www.in.gov/isdh/files/56349-fill-in.pdf

Nice. If you would be willing to dry a portion of one, I would look at the DNA.

Thanks. I have no collections of this species.
Dry it in a dehydrator on the lowest setting or in front of a fan. Then just put it in a ziplock bag.
Also please consider filling out this form with your images. That way it will already in my database when it arrives:
https://mycomap.com/quick-report
Then just write the number of the report that was created on the front of the ziplock bag. https://mycomap.com/reports/single-report
I will PM you the address
Please, help to identify

Many Tylopilus are not bitter and will bruise.
