UPDATE: Location information has been sent to those who expressed an interest. If you did not receive the information, and would like to attend, please contact us.
This will be our first event of the season on March 30, 2012. We cannot guarantee many morels this early. Morels tend to start fruiting from the south to the north, so that is why we wanted to hold this event fairly far south.
I have never hunted around Patoka Lake, so if anyone would like to offer some tips on a good general location to take the group, it would be much appreciated. Otherwise I will scout out the area the week before the event, and post an exact location to meet up then.
The area has 25,800 acreas of land and an 8,000 acre lake, so there should be many great locations.
We will meet at 1pm, and the main hunt will be for 2 hours. Many people will likely stay and hunt after the official event time, and you are welcome to join.
With all mushroom hunting events, make sure you dress properly. The weather can be somewhat unpredictable in the spring, but you will need steady shoes, long pants, and a jacket. You will also want to bring a knife to cut off your morels, as well as a mesh bag in order to carry your finds around the woods in.
