  1. We found a few the past few days in Franklin County, Indiana. So they are starting to pop! 🍄 Good Luck!

  2. You got it! Couldn't resist the urge to get out and about for a little bit today considering the weather. Unfortunately it was pretty much dark by the time I got out. I'll try and again earlier next time. Thank you for the motivation! : D I actually have no idea what any of these are and I'm looking forward to researching them, especially since the small ones pop up all over my yard.

  4. I neglected to include their habitat. Both false and real Chantelles are exclusively found in urban ecosystems where cannabaceae indigenous is widely distributed.

  5. Good to hear from you again! I usually say last week of April, first week of May. But I'm wrong because I see some decomposing early ones every year. Didn't think to check soil temp. Good advice. Thanks.

  6. I usually just watch thegreatmorel.com sightings map. It looks like the unseasonably warm winter brought the ground temps high enough in the southern part of Indiana, but that shut down with the current temps over the last week. They'll probably be right on schedule in your area within the next couple of weeks. I live about two hours northwest of you, so I don't expect them for at least 2- 3 weeks. I do soil temperature testing on the south facing slopes of wooded areas, just an inch out two before the surface. When the average temp gets to be around 11°C-12°C (52°F-54°F) they usually make their appearance.

  7. Figured Id go ahead and start up the next two month span tonight. I like how more people have been contributing! 🎉 It honestly started with a thought, I kinda wanted a way for me to keep a easy record of stuff I've collected in case it gets lost in the ether of a smart phone. I then remembered I joined this site and tried to make it a bit more than just that and try to spread info however small or great. Anyone can always message someone and ask for a ID if you aren't sure, but how cool would it be to have and look at a collection of species so diverse and complex as fungi, not from all over but the exact state/ region as Indiana or the east north Central. And at the same time have like minded individuals who are interested just as much as you or even more, answering questions! Be safe Happy Holidays and Happy hunting. Stay warm!!! 'There's no "I" in tiam, unless you spell et wrong.' 👻 🤣

  8. The white ones seem to resemble many features of Hygrophorus fungi. Definitely be careful with these. A good few are edible, but they are tricky to Identify and have plenty bad lookalikes.

  9. From what I can tell by the image it's a type of club fungus. Possibly..? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clavariadelphus_truncatus Either way I haven't seen those before, very interesting!

  11. Thanks! I'm stocking up! Had a full grocery bag of oysters after that day. Here's everything on a towel before the dehydrator. You can see the verity in appearance.

  14. The goal is to make a collection of pictures in two month intervals to kind of shine a light of what will be around at the time or is! Sorry for the mass upload and if I can, will try and go back and put names w/ pictures and picture sets. These were all found in northern IN. from the beginning of August to 9/19/23. Happy hunting everyone!

  15. Yeah I but bet y'all add fentanyl to everything on that website huh? If it's not just a front to steal money. Don't even be entertained by the idea that website will send you anything, and if they do, I've seen people take shit they didn't know anything about and they aren't alive to tell you not too. So be warned beautiful people, this scam is common, And can kill. Happy foraging!

  18. Actually, when I just went out to look at it, it looks like there’s kind of a spore print on the patio table! It’s kind of a white dusting all under where the mushroom sat overnight.

  19. Don't say that, " every mushrooms edible once" its entirely ignorant. And honestly they don't really have a 'heavy taste' to me, I make homemade Raman with them and boy it's freaking delicious, add to soups, they are very good for you. I just cook them for at least 30 minutes as with all my wild mushrooms cause of all the insects, and other foreign pathogens that could be on them. But I like how you start flat out telling this person that they aren't edible, then quickly redact and say you've eaten them without any problems, then try to spread your Hysteria along with. Fear mongering is lame, so quit. Unless you have actual knowledge and proof, which it's seems you are null? You don't get that to much on the shroomery .com, and a lot more trusted people from all over the world, for me Allan Rockefeller I.D.'s a lot of my odd finds I can't seem to identify, along with many other veteran mushroom cultivators and hunters. I'm going to add a file that talks about all these Edibles and the anti oxidizing, antibacterial, anti tumor, and super nutrition packed fungus it is. SIF_6_1_39.pdf

  21. By the way, fence your chickens away from your winecaps, or any other mushroom plot. If you don't, they'll eat the mycelium and you'll get no mushrooms. Been there, done that. Bruce

  22. I'm recently retired - old but young at heart! I am looking for comrades to hunt mushrooms with throughout IN! I like hunting alone - but it gets boring! Looking for fun individuals to form a group! Interested?
