The northernmost sighting was 5 days ago west of Indianapolis, so they're just starting to pop. The morels up here are about two weeks behind Indy, every year, so I'll be out in a about 3 weeks. There are already reports of morels popping in the U.P., Northern Wisconsin and Central Minnesota. Aaron M Posted April 24, 2023 Report Share Posted April 24, 2023 (edited) Bought some roadside morels in Indianapolis 2 weeks ago. They were pretty gritty and sandy so I'm not sure where they were collected, but the guy said they were way down south. Spent 2 hours today in North Salem Indiana searching what I thought would be prime spots with no luck. Did get a few pheasant back so not a total loss. And any time spent in the woods foraging is better than anything else I could be doing with my time.
