Newb to wild mushrooms. . .Identifying chanterelles

Hello.  I just found a gorgeous cluster of mushrooms.  I cannot post pictures as of yet.  They've not downloaded to my cloud yet.  I'm pretty darn sure they are chanterelles.  They grew out beside of a small tree stump in my mother's yard.  I did a ton of googling and some research.  They have a nice faint apricot odor to them, and they have the ribs running through the caps, but NOT down the stems. 


I wasn't entirely sure how to prep them.  I did a sink rinse, and now letting them dry on paper towels.  Just planning on sautéing them. . .IF, they are in fact chanterelles.  I wish I could post the pics.  They have a golden brown color, man, there must have been close to 2lbs worth!

Without seeing them there is no way of identifying them correctly. A good referance for finding edible wild mushrooms is a book called "Edible wild mushrooms of illinois and surounding states" it has alot of good info in it. The best way is to learn from someone that knows what mushrooms are what.
