  • Hoosier Mushroom Society Scholarship

    This award supports students who are interested in advancing mycology in the State of Indiana. Applicants can come from any branch of mycology, but preference will be given to students with an interest in the higher fungi - mushrooms. The aim of this scholarship is to promote the study of mycology for Indiana students.

    Award Amount: up to $1000.
    Application deadline: July 31, annually
    Requirements: Applicants must be working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree at an Indiana community college, college, or university.. Applicants are not required to be members of the Hoosier Mushroom Society to apply.

    Documents required:
    Cover letter
    A letter of support from the major professor.
    Copy of university or college transcripts.
    A brief letter that describes your interest in fungi, your major, courses that you have taken or plan on taking that involve fungi, and how you intend to promote mycology in the future in Indiana.

    The HMS President will submit the documents to the HMS Board for review. All applicants will be notified of the decision of the board in writing. Scholarship awards shall be announced at a general membership meeting and in the HMS newsletter.

    Payments: Payments will be made in a single installment at the beginning of the fall semester.
