Backyard Shrooms

Recommended Posts

Hi,

We have some shrooms that have sprouted in our yard. Are they toxic, ok for dogs? If  toxic how do we get rid of them, if we can’t eat them of course.

These most closely resemble Weeping Widow mushrooms. Despite its name, these are listed as edible, however there are some reports of upset stomachs in certain individuals, so it wouldn't be considered a good edible fungus. If you did consume it, be sure to cook them shortly after harvesting, as they blacken and deteriorate quickly.
