puppycat
I'm looking to grow and find out about native mushrooms in Indiana. I have a large Backyard with some trees, and some roots. How best is it to sprout native edible, and non and tell them apart. Partially for eating and for breaking down soil for compost. I know very little about mushrooms except morels, and have had access to a shiitake log in the past- any help would be greatly appreciated. Bruce
Good resources I've found for this include http://www.mushroomvideos.com/ and https://fungi.com/. Be sure to get your free catalog from Fungi Perfecti...it contains useful information. Perhaps the best book on the subject is The Mushroom Cultivator by Paul Stamets, available for $35 at fungi.com.
