Conner Prairie BioBlitz

If you have never been to a Bioblitz before, they are an amazing way to learn about nature from the top experts in many different fields. There are usually specialists on plants, mammals, birds, insects, and of course, fungi. The goal of a bioblitz is to catalog the total number of living species in a given area.
This page will be updated as more information is available. As of now, I do not have the times when this will be occurring on Saturday and Sunday. I also have a question about camping at the event which will be answered shortly as well.
If you would like to attend, please email steve@hoosiermushrooms.org with your name and how many will be attending. I would like to get a count for the organizers well before the event.

Saturday, June 8th
8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Mandatory Bioblitz Check-In and Orientation
(Please park in the Blacksmith Lot. Check-In will be located in the Bayt
Pavilion)
After Orientation Survey Begins
6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Catered Dinner (Bayt Pavilion)
Sunday, June 9th
7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. Continental Breakfast (Bayt Pavilion)
Noon Survey Officially Ends
1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Presentation of Findings (Featherston Barn)

Hello Everyone,
This year the Indiana Academy of Science through the Biodiversity and Natural Areas Committee is helping to sponsor a two day [Saturday through Sunday, June 8th & 9th] bioblitz at Conner Prairie, Fishers, IN [just north of Indy]. The bioblitz will be coupled with a festival, i.e., a series of interactive events between Conner Prairie staff, various partners throughout the state, and the public; even members of the bioblitz who wish to interact with the public can.
The basic habitats at the site include a number of restored prairies, pastures/fields, woodlands, and a riparian corridor along the White River. The site consists of approximately 800 acres (see attached map of the site).
As always, we are looking for volunteers to participate in the bioblitz. You have been contacted because you have participated in one or more of the IAS sponsored bioblitzes in the last four years. This year I will organize the bioblitz participants and Gail Brown and staff at the site will organize the festival and bioblitz schedule.
For the participants, Saturday dinner, Sunday continental breakfast, and snacks for both days will be provided. To engage the public in the actual survey, one of the barns will be turned into a bioblitz HQ. This would provide work space for anyone on the survey, and serve as a place where updates could be provided, specimens displayed, pictures shared, etc. with guests. In addition, the Prairie House at the site will be used for indoor camping. It is a large carpeted room with restroom facilities where folks could sleep on the floor.
